Personally, I have always enjoyed traveling outside of my country but I know many people that have never even left the state they live in and always vacation locally. However, one thing is for sure, whatever location you think of there will be many travel sites that devote space to it, if not whole websites themselves. Not only this but many people have given up going to a travel agent altogether (unless they are after a brochure) and make all their travel, car hire and accommodation arrangements online. The main problem is the convenience of it all and the huge savings that can be found using the internet.
Although I am not one to put my complete trust in these sites and still like to visit my travel agent. I'm old-fashioned and still want to sit down with a travel agent, letting them make my plans for me and I always feel like I will get better results than on a website. However, booking for private jets is more convenient when done online than going to a travel agent. I find it difficult explaining what I am looking for to a machine whereas it is easier to ask for details from a travel agent. The problem I find with travel sites is there is no-one to speak to and I find this very impersonal; if you are fortunate enough to find someone to speak with they may be in another country for all you know.
Even if you are lucky enough to talk to a person, how do you know they are telling you the truth about the situation? For peace of mind I like to use my travel agent and I don't mind if it takes much longer to book the vacation or if the cost is higher because I know I can always speak to them about anything that isn't right. One of my friends only ever uses the travel sites to book her vacations but she does like the last minute discounts that can be found which are much easier to find using the internet. By browsing online she has made some amazing savings by just waiting until the last possible minute to book the vacation.
It would be nice to do this but my career does not allow for impulsive travel arrangements. There are other discounts to be made as well if you are prepared to book your vacation through a travel site, like discounts on car hire, excursions and tickets for events for example. There are many advantages to using a travel site to book your travel or even do your research and I do use websites when researching where I would like to travel to, and for getting my facts together. This way, if I book my vacation through my travel agent, should anything go wrong, I know I can go and complain in person.
